- Programme manager: MSc Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics
- Job title: Lecturer
I am programme manager for the MSc in Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics. My background is in applied mathematics, and my PhD research was on the fluid dynamics of the equatorial stratosphere. Twenty years later, my research interests have diversified somewhat, but they remain focussed on the fluid dynamics of the Earth's atmosphere and ocean. This research work typically involves developing simplified mathematical models of physical processes and running appropriate computer simulations, in order to help explain observed dynamical phenomena. This is very much the philosophy of the MSc in Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics.
I co-supervise several research projects with members of staff based in our School of Earth and Environment, each of whom are also involved in teaching on this MSc.
