Natural Sciences MNatSc, BSc
Natural Sciences allows you to design your degree to suit your career aspirations and interests and maintain a breadth of scientific subjects. Whether you choose our 4-year MNatSc, or 3-year BSc, you'll study multiple sciences and explore the links between them, using an interdisciplinary approach. You'll develop the ability to look at problems from different perspectives and bring together the ideas of multiple subjects, which is highly valued in industry and academia.
You’ll study a combination of three subjects of your choice in your first year, and eventually come to specialise in two of them. The subjects available on the Natural Sciences degree are:
The only restrictions are that you cannot choose both Environmental Science and Food Science and Nutrition, and Mathematics must be chosen if you choose Physics.
Our Natural Sciences programme is delivered by world-leading scientists from academic Schools across the University that have a strong interdisciplinary ethos.
The University of Leeds is continually investing to provide exceptional environments that enable researchers from different subject areas to work together to tackle global challenges.
This course is extremely flexible, allowing you to combine 3 subjects into a degree that is shaped by your career aspirations and interests. At every stage of the course you’ll be able to decide how much time you dedicate to each subject.
Natural Sciences can be studied as a three-year BSc or a four-year MNatSc, BSc, which integrates a Master's degree. You also have the opportunity to undertake a year in industry or spend a year abroad.
You’ll be directly engaged in research through individual and team-based project work – giving you access to our specialist facilities. As well as becoming an expert in the individual subjects you choose to make up your course, you’ll develop an appreciation and understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of modern science from researchers working across the traditional scientific boundaries.
Our Industrial Advisory Committee helps ensure our courses are up-to-date with modern practices and techniques and reflect the latest developments in science and industry.
