Emma Poole

I am currently a 2nd Year PhD student within the Zhou Group based within Chemistry here at the University of Leeds funded by an EPSRC studentship. Before joining the University to do my PhD studies I received my Master degree in Chemistry (First Class, MChem) from the University of Hull in 2015. My research focuses on producing a range of coated nanoparticles (Quantum Dots and Gold Nanoparticles) using methods developed previously within the group to further improve the structural knowlege and understanding of the viral receptor proteins DC-SIGN and DC-SIGNR by using flourescence based assays. My biggest achievement within my PhD so far is that I won the poster presentation at the Inorganic Northern Dalton Meeting in 2016 with my poster title matching that of my thesis.
