Wasupol (Bank) Rungtanapirom


Wasupol Rungtanapirom, everyone calls him ‘Bank’, has been funded by the Royal Thai government to study Chemistry abroad since his undergraduate degree. The funding was awarded after he joined the International Chemistry Olympiad training session. He graduated as an MChem from Leeds in 2012. He then went back to Thailand and started his academic career in Srinakarinwirot University, Bangkok, Thailand. In 2014, he came back to the UK to gain more experience as a PhD student in the Willans group. 


Research interests

His project mainly involves Cu-NHC complexes, where he has studied Cu-NHC as a cross-coupling catalyst and Cu-NHC that participate in reductive elimination, generating aryl-imidazolium, bromo imidazolium and cyclised imidazolium species.
