Huayang Yu

I started my undergraduate B.Sc. in chemistry at The University of Warwick in 2013 and graduated in July 2016 with a 2(ii) honours.  I had one month internship in Qianhai Green Society Built Systems Shenzhen China during summer holiday in 2015 . My responsibility was to calculate the grams of nitrates that one single needs per day and how many koi can produce that amount of nitrates per day. Also I researched and calculated soil or water temperature, air temperature, weight of plant, how much fish food that a fish needs per day, nitrates per day and nitrates for life of plant.

I started my master M.Sc. in Polymers, Colourants and Fine Chemicals in The University of Leeds in 2016 and graduated in December 2017 with distinction. During my master studies, I found my interest was in the area of polymer chemistry. I got an opportunity to do my Ph.D. under Dr. Paul Thornton’s supervision and started in October 2017.

I am also an associate member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC)

Research interests

I am interested in Reversible Addition Fragmentation Chain Transfer (RAFT) polymerisation and Polymer induced self-assembly (PISA) which can be utilised to produce a large range of nanoparticles and can be used in drug delivery potentially. I am also interested in controlled Ring-Opening Polymerisation of N-carboxyanhydrides.
