Undergraduate

We are committed to recognising hard work and achievement and we offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support undergraduates who have the potential to be an outstanding student.
If you are a UK or EU student, you may also be able to receive government support to help towards your tuition fees and living costs.

2018-19

The Head of School Excellence scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved A*AA at A-level or equivalent.

  • Value - what money is on offer

    £1,000 per year of study

  • Who is eligible

    This scholarship is available to you if you’re a UK/EU rated fee-paying student who achieved A*AA at A-level or equivalent. You must be new to the University and enter onto Level 1.

  • How to apply

    No application necessary. You will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

  • Deadline

    No deadline – automatic.

  • Conditions

    Year 1, new to the University, achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 70% or above (to include all compulsory modules) with all modules passed at the first attempt. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 70%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 70% or over. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year. You must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences award. You must be on a course parented by the School of Food Science and Nutrition or a student on a foundation year course at the University of Leeds.

    This is an automatic scholarship awarded on condition of you achieving A*AA at A-level (A2) (or equivalent qualification, based on the criteria used by the School for offer purposes). The grades must be in subjects required for the course.

  • How to apply

    No application necessary. You will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

  • Deadline

    No deadline – automatic.

  • Conditions

    Year 1, new to the University, achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 70% or above (to include all compulsory modules) with all modules passed at the first attempt. This scholarship is for any internationally rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

    £2,000 per year of study.

  • Who is eligible

    Any international applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Schools of Chemistry, Food Science and Nutrition, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy.

  • How to apply

    No deadline - automatic

  • Conditions

    You must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and be classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60% or above with all modules passed at the first attempt. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year. If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this scholarship.

  • How are the scholarships awarded?

    This is an automatic scholarship and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.
