2018-19

The Head of School Excellence scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved outstanding A-level or equivalent results.

    £1,000 per year of study

  • Who is eligible

    This scholarship is available to you if you’re a UK/EU rated fee-paying student who achieved A*AA at A-level or equivalent. You must be new to the University and enter onto Level 1.

  • How to apply

    No application necessary. You will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

  • Deadline

    No deadline – automatic.

  • Conditions

    Year 1, new to the University, achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 70% or above (to include all compulsory modules) with all modules passed at the first attempt. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 70%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 70% or over. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year. You must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences award. You must be on a course parented by the School of Food Science and Nutrition or a student on a foundation year course at the University of Leeds.

If you're a UK undergraduate student with a household income of less than £42,875 a year you may be eligible to apply for a means-tested undergraduate scholarship.

The scholarships are non-repayable and are in addition to the financial support you can receive from the government (ie tuition fee loan or maintenance loan).

There are a limited number of scholarships available and will be awarded to selected UK students from low income households who meet the eligibility criteria and are entering Leeds as full-time, level one undergraduates in September 2018.

The scholarships are available thanks to the generous support from alumni and other organisations.

This scholarship is for any internationally rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

  • Who is eligible

    Any international applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Schools of Chemistry, Food Science and Nutrition, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy.

  • Conditions

    You must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and be classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60% with all modules passed at the first attempt. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year. If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this scholarship.

    This is an automatic scholarship and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.
